This year the tournament was nearly up to full capacity with 14 entrants. The standard Series format for an entry of 14 is a block stage with 7 rounds played in two cross-blocks of 7, followed on the second day by a best-of-3 knock-out for the top 4 from each block and an all-play-all block of 6 for the remainder. The weather forecast for the Saturday wasn't so good with the prospect of rain arriving in late afternoon, so it was with some relief that the block stage was just about finished when the rain actually arrived.

In the 'A' block Mike Hills was playing well and finished top on 6/7, continuing a good run this season which had seen his handicap come down from 2 to 0, while Kevin Connolly had rather a tough time and only managed 2/7, failing to reach the main knock-out. Thomas Halliday also put in a good performance which included quite a few spectacular long jump attempts, finishing on 5/7 along with Konstantin Yudintsev who was notable for a lot of strong clearances.

In the 'B' block the newcomer Cengiz Kaya (handicap 5) put in a creditable performance, including a surprise 7-2 win against Kevin and a couple of close 6-7 defeats against Konstantin Yudintsev (-1) and Joshua Wise (0), so he was perhaps a bit unlucky to finish on only 1/7. Cengiz had started the season as an 11 handicap but had been cut a 5 after a couple of handicapper interventions. The 'B' block honours went to Toby Toller on 6/7, losing only to Thomas Halliday, followed by Kim Taylor and Paul Gunn on 5/7.

In the main knock-out on the following day the weather was better, though the possibility of fitting in up to 9 games in 3 rounds of best-of-3 rubbers was a bit of a concern to several, especially those with long return journeys. Mike Hills continued to show good form with some particularly accurate hoop running, dispatching Joshua Wise in two games. The other three quarter-finals were all closely contested, with Konstantin, Kim and Toby all emerging as 2/1 winners. In the semi-final Mike managed to beat top seed Konstantin in three games, and Kim stepped up a gear to beat Toby in a more convincing couple of games. That led to a final between Mike and Kim, a repeat of their block stage encounter which Mike had won on the previous day. But this time Kim was playing better with some particularly good clearances, and he emerged the overall winner in a couple of games. The upshot was that with some curtailed loser play-offs, in the end nobody actually played more than 7 games on the second day and the event finished at a sensible time in the early evening.

Meanwhile in the 5-round Plate for the bottom 6 from the first day, it turned into a close-run race between Kevin Connolly and Geoff Johnson. Kevin beat Geoff in their individual encounter and avenged his earlier defeat by Cengiz, but lost narrowly to Stephen Webb. When the dust had settled on the block Kevin and Geoff were tied on both 4/5 wins and +12 on net hoops, so Kevin won the Plate as he had beaten Geoff.
