Inter-club matches |
The Club plays team matches against other clubs during the course of the season. Each match is usually a one-day fixture played with teams of between 3 and 6-a-side, and comprising a mixture of singles and doubles games. (See Tournaments for competitions between individual players.) The games in AC League matches are played to Handicap rules, while there are both Handicap and Level Play GC Leagues. For both AC and GC the venue usually alternates between Home and Away from year to year, and the League winners proceed to regional finals staged by the East Anglian Croquet Federation. The venues for Friendly matches vary, except that matches in the AC Tour are of course always played Away, and the playing formats are chosen according to the teams' preferences. For National competitions the venue is usually the opposite of the venue used when the same two clubs previously met in the same competition, which could be several years earlier, though sometimes it is at a neutral club location.
