Association Croquet
Since 2003, each season the Club has
arranged a 5-day tour of the South West region with matches
against different clubs in the region each day, and with 4
nights staying at Butcombe
Farm, a local B&B.
Tour organiser: Mark Homan.
The 2005 tour was the usual highly
enjoyable affair, notwithstanding having to play in rain for at
least part of the time on 4 of the 5 days, but the evening cuisine
in various pubs near Butcombe Farm easily made up for the daily
soaking. The tour ended in particularly dramatic style on the last
day at Dyffryn when the last two games, double-banked on the same
court, both went to time with the final turn bringing the scores
level, so that both games had to be decided by sudden death. One
game went to each side leaving Watford the narrow winner of the
match, and so in the end Watford finished the tour with wins in 4
out of 5 matches.
